About the Project
Methane (CH₄) is a potent greenhouse gas that contributed 35% of global warming in 2010–2019. This project aims to unravel methane production (source) and oxidation (sink) pathways in Australian coastal ecosystems such as mangroves, salt marshes, seagrasses, and macro-algae.
The research combines field measurements, laboratory work (stable isotopes, incubations, microbial analysis), and flexible research topics proposed by applicants.
Scholarship & Duration
Funding: Fully funded at RTP rate (AUD $35,500 per annum – 2026 rate, indexed annually)
Duration: 3 years and 3 months, tax-free, paid fortnightly

- Additional Experience: Field GHG flux measurements, microbial analysis, stable isotope techniques, modelling/programming (R, GIS, Python)
